Join us for an intimate, small-group bear photography camping expedition into Lake Clark National Park & Preserve, designed for just four guests.

With three guides accompanying the group—including an experienced bear-viewing specialist—we’ll spend four nights and four full days in Lake Clark, immersing ourselves in the coastal wilderness and focusing on brown bears, wildlife, landscapes, and photography.

This is an all-inclusive experience once you arrive in Anchorage. Your accommodations, meals, transportation, guided activities, and included gratuities are all covered.

Your flights to and from Anchorage are the only travel expenses not included.

Take your wildlife photography to the next level by learning our editing process directly from your photography guides. You’ll have dedicated editing time during your stay to work through your own images, ask questions, and learn techniques you can continue using long after the workshop.

At the end of the workshop, we’ll bring everything together by creating a beautiful book featuring the images you selected and edited during your stay — giving you a lasting keepsake of your wildlife photography adventure.

Day 1 — Welcome to Anchorage

Arrive in Anchorage and check into our hotel for the evening.

Tonight, we’ll meet the group and your guides, enjoy dinner together, and go over the itinerary and everything you’ll need to know before heading into the wilderness.

We’ll discuss what to expect during the expedition, photography opportunities, weather conditions, and most importantly, bear-country safety and wilderness procedures.

This evening gives everyone a chance to get settled, meet the group, and prepare for an early departure the following morning.

Overnight: Anchorage

Day 2 — Anchorage → Lake Clark

We’ll start the morning with an early breakfast before departing Anchorage and making our way toward Lake Clark National Park & Preserve.

Depending on our final camp location and conditions, we’ll travel into the park by small aircraft or boat.

Once we arrive, we’ll establish camp and get everyone settled into our wilderness home for the next four nights.

After camp is set up, we’ll begin our first afternoon of bear viewing. This first outing will give us an opportunity to become familiar with the landscape, observe how bears are using the area, and begin photographing them in their natural environment.

As evening approaches, we’ll take advantage of Alaska’s beautiful evening light for our first dedicated wildlife and landscape photography session.

Meals: Included
Overnight: Lake Clark Wilderness Camp — Night 1

Day 3 — Full Day Bear Viewing

Today begins our first full day immersed in Lake Clark.

We’ll spend the day exploring the surrounding habitat and looking for brown bears as they move through the landscape, feed, rest, and interact with their environment.

Our experienced bear-viewing specialist will provide insight into bear behavior and help us understand how the animals are using the landscape, while our photography guides will work with guests on composition, camera settings, positioning, and wildlife photography techniques.

With only four guests, we’ll be able to keep the experience personal and flexible, allowing us to spend more time in productive areas rather than rushing from location to location.

We’ll take breaks throughout the day before returning to the field for the afternoon and evening light.

Meals: Included
Overnight: Lake Clark Wilderness Camp — Night 2

Day 4 — Full Day Bear Viewing

We’ll spend another full day exploring Lake Clark and photographing its incredible wildlife and landscapes.

While brown bears will remain our primary focus, we’ll also keep our eyes open for the other wildlife that shares this ecosystem. Depending on conditions and location, this may include coastal birds, Bald Eagles, marine mammals, and other wildlife.

Between wildlife sessions, we’ll have opportunities to photograph the surrounding mountains, rivers, beaches, tidal flats, and other wilderness landscapes.

This is also another opportunity for personalized photography instruction, with our guides helping guests make the most of the changing light and wildlife activity.

Meals: Included
Overnight: Lake Clark Wilderness Camp — Night 3

Day 5 — Final Full Day in Lake Clark

Our final full day gives us another opportunity to experience Lake Clark without having to worry about packing up or traveling.

We’ll follow the wildlife and make the most of the conditions each day brings. Morning and evening light will provide some of our best photography opportunities, while the middle of the day can be used for exploring, landscape photography, and learning more about the ecosystem surrounding camp.

We’ll finish our final evening with a sunset photography session and one last opportunity to experience the wilderness before preparing for our departure the following morning.

Meals: Included
Overnight: Lake Clark Wilderness Camp — Night 4

Day 6 — Final Morning Bear Viewing → Anchorage

We’ll wake early for our final morning of bear viewing and photography.

This gives us one last opportunity to photograph the bears during the productive morning hours before returning to camp for breakfast and packing up.

Once camp is packed, we’ll begin our journey back to Anchorage by aircraft or boat, depending on our planned transportation and conditions.

After arriving in Anchorage, guests can either continue directly with their travels or use the optional final Anchorage hotel night if they would prefer to stay overnight.

A Truly Small-Group Experience

The expedition is limited to four guests, accompanied by three guides.

Our goal is to create a wilderness photography experience that feels intimate and immersive—not like a large commercial bear-viewing tour.

Why Join Us in Lake Clark?

Lake Clark is a place that stays with you. It’s wild, remote, and incredibly beautiful, with a landscape shaped by mountains, rivers, lakes, and an abundance of wildlife. Our bear camp gives you the rare opportunity to experience this environment from the inside—waking up in the wilderness, spending your days watching bears, and photographing them as they go about their lives in their natural habitat.

This trip is about more than getting the perfect photograph. It’s about slowing down and experiencing the wilderness around you. We’ll take the time to watch bear behavior, understand the environment they depend on, and learn what makes this part of Alaska so unique.

We also believe that being fortunate enough to spend time in a place like Lake Clark comes with a responsibility to help protect it. A portion of our focus on this trip is giving back to the wild places and wildlife that make this experience possible. Through conservation support and donations, we want our guests to know that their trip is helping contribute to the continued protection of Lake Clark and its incredible wildlife.

Our hope is that you leave with more than a collection of beautiful bear photographs. We want you to leave with memories of sitting quietly in the wilderness, watching bears in their natural environment, sharing stories around camp, and experiencing a side of Alaska that few people ever get to see.

Come for the bears. Come for the photography. Come for the adventure—and leave with a deeper connection to one of Alaska’s truly wild places.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we’ll always do our best to work with you if something unexpected comes up. Because we reserve accommodations, transportation, guides, and activities well in advance, our standard refund schedule is:

  • 90+ days before the trip: 75% refund

  • 60–89 days: 50% refund

  • 30–59 days: 25% refund

  • Less than 30 days: No refund

If you need to cancel, please reach out to us as soon as possible. If we’re able to fill your spot, we’ll do our best to provide a greater refund whenever possible. We understand that things happen, and our goal is to work with you whenever we can while still covering the commitments we’ve made to provide your trip.

Payment & Booking

A 50% deposit is required to secure your spot on the trip. Because our tours have limited space, your reservation is not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

The remaining balance is due 90 days before departure. Once your spot is secured, we’ll keep you updated as we get closer to the trip with important information including the itinerary, packing recommendations, travel details, and everything you need to prepare for your experience.

We’re excited to have you join us and look forward to sharing an incredible wildlife adventure with you.
